POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Music Theatre at Community Performance Series will present their production of “Ring of Fire” from July 26 to Aug. 2.
Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. each night except Sunday. There will also be 2 p.m. matinees on July 28, 30 and Aug. 2. This general admission event takes place in the SUNY Potsdam Performing Arts Center’s Black Box Theater.
“Ring of Fire” comes from the iconic songbook of Johnny Cash. The musical tells “a story of love and faith, struggle and success, rowdiness and redemption, and home and family,” according to a news reelase from CPS. More than two dozen classic hits—including “I Walk The Line,” “A Boy Named Sue,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” and the title tune are among the repertoire.
“It will be difficult to top the success of ‘Mary Poppins,’ but we are extremely confident that the second half of our summer season will be as exhilarating and dazzling. Staging this production in the new Black Box Theater has allowed us to provide a much more intimate experience than what we are used to. With audience members positioned at all four sides of the stage, or ‘in the round’, they will enjoy a close encounter with the amazing, dual-duty cast of acting musicians,” said Executive Director Amy Flack.
General admission tickets can be purchased at 267-2277 or www.cpspotsdam.org. Tickets are also available at Brick & Mortar Music in downtown Potsdam.
