POTSDAM -- Community Performance Series will present "Carols of Christmas," a special holiday event featuring The American Boychoir with The Orchestra of Northern New York on Saturday, Dec. 11. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Hosmer Concert Hall, SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music.

"Carols of Christmas" will pair America's most widely touring choral ensemble with Northern New York's premiere orchestra in a special presentation of seasonal songs. Traditional carols to be performed include "Joy to the World," "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" and "O Come All Ye Faithful." The pieces have been selected to highlight the pure sound of the Boychoir with the lushness of a 55-piece symphony.

Under the leadership of Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, the Boychoir is comprised of boys in grades four through eight from across the country and around the world. The American Boychoir performs with world-class ensembles, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic.

The choir has also performed with numerous renowned musicians, including soprano Jessye Norman, jazz musician Wynton Marsalis, pop diva Beyoncé and at Carnegie Hall with Sir Paul McCartney.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting the CPS Box Office, located in the lobby of the Snell Music Theater, SUNY Potsdam, or at Northern Music & Video in downtown Potsdam.

Tickets start at $13 for youth, $20 for seniors and students and $30 for adults.

A special "Family Package" allows free admission for youth 12 and under accompanied by an adult, as well as reduced adult admission.

For more information and tickets, call the CPS Box Office at 267-2277 or go online to www.cpspotsdam.org.
