OGDENSBURG -- Legendary local basketball coach Bill Merna and former city manager John Pinkerton will serve as the celebrity chefs preparing breakfast at the Ogdensburg Kiwanis Club’s annual Pancake Day on April 7 at the Salvation Army at the corner of Green and Franklin Streets.
Breakfast will be from 8-11 a.m., featuring pancakes, sausage and St. Lawrence County Maple Syrup.
Tickets are $7. Takeouts are available.
“Bill Merna is a legendary Ogdensburg high school basketball coach who had a 574-259 record in 37 years of high school coaching,” said Kiwanis President Tim Davis. “He led Ogdensburg Free Academy to 16 Section 10 crowns and 8 overall Section 10 titles. Under Bill, OFA’s Blue Devils made four trips to the State Final Four and played in the state Championships.”
“John Pinkerton is Ogdensburg’s former City Manager who is one of our community’s top citizens,” said Davis. “Whether its the Boys and Girls Club, Kiwanis Youth Programs or a host of other good causes, John Pinkerton has played an important role in helping our community.”
The annual breakfast will benefit Kiwanis Baseball, Soccer, the Ogdensburg Free Academy Key Club, Builders Club and K-Kids.
Sign ups will also be held for Kiwanis Little League Baseball and T-Ball.
