LAKE PLACID -- Hockey rivals Clarkson University and St. Lawrence University clash for the second time this week on Saturday, this time at Lake Placid's Olympic Arena.

Clarkson will try to keep the momentum going while St. Lawrence is looking to rebound when the two ECAC Hockey schools square off during Saturday night’s, Dec. 8, Festivus Face-Off.

Saturday’s non-conference game in the famed 1980 Rink Herb Brooks Arena will be the second match-up between the two North Country rivals in just four days. The Knights and Saints faced each other for the first time Wednesday night, when Clarkson came away from Appleton Arena with an impressive 4-1 road win. Junior Will Fredrick sparked the victory, which pushed the Knights to .500 in conference play (3-7-5, 3-3-1), with a pair of goals and one assist. Freshman goalie Greg Lewis stopped 34 shots.

Senior defenseman George Hughes put St. Lawrence on the board with a power-play goal midway through the third period. The Saints (7-6-2, 1-4-2), who were in a 2-0 hole after the first period, were just one for five when they had the man advantage.

The win was Clarkson’s fifth in their last six meetings with the Saints. The two schools have also split their last two match-ups in Lake Placid with the Knights posting a 2-1 overtime victory two years ago and the Saints skating to a 4-1 win last December. Clarkson leads the overall series, which dates back to the 1925-’26 season, 116-65-9.

Game time Saturday night is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available at $15/adults, $10/juniors/seniors/students and $12/groups and can be purchased on-line at www.whiteface.com or through the Olympic Center’s box office, at 518-523-3330.
