POTSDAM – Cinema 10 will present the South Korean film, “Secret Sunshine” at 7:15 p.m. Monday, April 4 at the Roxy Theater on Main Street.
Despite the title, “Secret Sunshine” is a dark drama set in the Korean countryside.
It is directed by Lee Chang-dong.
After her husband’s death, Shin-ae and her young son move to a small village.
Shin-ae opens a piano school and is initially welcomed into the town.
The new routine is suddenly destroyed but Shin-ae must go on.
Scott Foundas of L.A. Weekly calls the film “a secular hymn to the small triumphs and cavernous tragedies of the everyday, and our ability to cope.”
A. O. Scott of the New York Times says this is “a great movie, by a major figure in world cinema.”
Tickets are $3.50 for students and senior citizens and $4.50 general admission.
