POTSDAM – Harpist Martha Gallagher will weave an unusual Christmas tale together with original music in her telling of “The Christmas Rose” at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 at the St. Lawrence County Arts Council, 51 Market St.

Martha was inspired by “The Legend of the Christmas Rose,” a story written by Sweden's Selma Lagerloff, winner of the 1909 Nobel Prize in Literature.

The tale takes place in a monastery garden, a poor village, and a deep, dark northern forest.

Gallagher, well-known in this region as The Adirondack Harper, has been performing professionally for over 30 years.

Her unique style of playing the harp has garnered her international attention and invitations to perform all over the country.

This program is ideal for adults, teens, and older children; it is not intended for young children.

Admission is $10 per person. For more information on the concert, contact 265-6860.
