POTSDAM -- Carol Cope Lowe, assistant professor of bassoon at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music, performs for a faculty recital 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12 in Snell Music Theater, and will include works from a variety of periods.
Accompanied by Kirk Severtson on piano, Lowe will present pieces by Paul Hindemith, Henri Dutilleux, José Siquera, André Previn and Ralph Vaughan Williams.
Lowe teaches courses in bassoon performance, reed-making, repertoire, pedagogy and orchestral studies at The Crane School of Music. She is a native of Brevard, N.C., and has performed throughout the United States and Europe. While living in the Atlanta area, Lowe performed frequently with the Atlanta Symphony, including a 1996 tour to Carnegie Hall. She has toured and recorded in London, Paris and Munich with various ensembles and was a member of the Taft Quintet. As an active member of the International Double Reed Society, Lowe has presented recitals at their annual conferences.
The concert is free, and the public is invited to attend.
