CANTON – Village of Canton and the Canton Tree Committee will celebrate Arbor Day Friday, April 29 at a tree planting event on Canton Island Park (formerly Willow Island) at 1:30 p.m.
A total of eight trees will be planted, three white spruce and five sugar maples. The event will include an Arbor Day Proclamation by Mayor Charlotte Ramsay, a presentation by the Tree Huggers' Club and the tree plantings.
A memory tree can be donated to celebrate an occasion, such as a birthday, wedding, retirement, birth of a child, or anniversary. It could also be donated in memory of a loved oneʼs passing. To donate a memory tree, contact Joette Holgado at 379-1642. Memory tree donations include: George Gibson to honor Judy C. Gibson, and 10 more trees in honor of his entire family; John and Georgia Vose in memory of Fritz Renick; Phil Harnden and MJ Heisey in memory of Doug Angus; Sally Kirby in memory of Brian Kirby; Irene Krenceski and Family in memory of Ed Krenceski.
