CANTON -- Ministers the Emeriti Rev. Wade Wheelock and the Rev. Anne Marsh will present the sermon at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton on Sunday, Sept. 14.

The title for the service is "Turtles, Wolves, and Religious Community." Revs. Wheelock and Marsh will tell two of their favorite children's stories, each followed by brief reflections on the joys and limitations of Unitarian Universalist church communities.

Both Marsh and Wheelock are the Ministers Emeriti of the UU Church of Canton, from which they retired in 2009 after serving as co-ministers for 16 years. They now reside in Los Alamos, N.M.

Sunday is also the first day of religious education for UU Church youth. This year the pre-K and first-graders class will enjoy “Spirit Play,” the second-through third-graders will participate in “Faithful Journeys,” the fifth-through-seventh-graders will take on “Riddles and Mysteries,” the eighth- and ninth-graders graders embark on “Coming of Age,” and the youth group will focus on environmental justice issues.

The Unitarian Universalist Church is across from the park at 3 1/2 East Main St.

More information and directions can be found on the church’s website at www.uucantonny.org.
