BLACK LAKE -- Aug. 27 will be a big day at the Black Lake Fish and Game Club.

Mud run: The trails are prepped, groomed and obstacles are set. The day will start at 10 a.m. with mud run registration, and the race will start in waves around 11 a.m. Registration is $10 for adults, $5 for kids, and free for ages 7 and under. This year there, is an option to purchase a medal for $2.

“Goodbye Earl’s BBQ”: The meal will be available at 10:30 a.m. for those that want to eat in or take out. The cost is $12. Earl will slow cook around the clock from Friday evening through the early hours of Saturday morning.

Family and kids’ games: Fun and games will continue throughout the day with the Redneck Challenge Game, Casting Games (first 50 kids get a goodie bag), Paddle Painting for Kids, BB Gun and Sling Shot Shootout.

Adult shooting games: At noon, the rifle ranges will be home to shoot the string for $1 per shot with $100 payout and a marshmallow "roasting" competition where people have three shots to "roast" three marshmallows with a .22 caliber gun. Both are single shot .22 games.

Sporting clays: Jay Treat runs the sporting clay trailer, off Potato Street on the South end of the club. This will run throughout the day. Having sporting clays at this location allows the club to accommodate those that want to enjoy the shooting sports while the rest of the rendezvous is going on. Look for the big pines on Potato Street. Jay and his crew will be set up there ready to go.

Displays and demonstrations: Larry Vielhauer's Boone and Crockett Record Book Kodiak Bear will be on display, along with sporting goods and equipment displays from Wright's Marina and Blevins Brothers. The St. Lawrence Valley Trappers Association will have a display, along with a hunting dog show by the River Valley Gun Dog Club. Jack Taylor will hold a soap carving class and demonstration. The Fish and Game Club's Youth Archery program will also have a shooting demonstration from 1 to 2 p.m.

Raffles, silent auction and prizes: There will be a winner’s choice gun raffle, Jon boat raffle and 50/50 raffle tickets. Prizes will be drawn that day. A silent auction and bucket ticket raffle will be held inside the clubhouse.

“Double Top Secret Gun Drawing” - Only for attendees. There are an additional two separate gun drawings for which participants must be present to win. One is for a muzzle-loader shotgun donated by Jim Robinson and one for a rifle or shotgun. For these drawings, one must purchase a playing card. Fifty-two cards will be sold for each.
