Authors Jane Subramanian and Virginia Cayey will speak at a brown bag lunch about their book, “State University of New York at Potsdam,” Thursday, Feb. 21.

CANTON -- The next free brown bag lunch program at the St. Lawrence County Historical Association, Silas Wright House, 3 E. Main St., will discuss SUNY Potsdam.

Founded as the St. Lawrence Academy in 1816, SUNY Potsdam is the oldest of all 64 SUNY campuses and home to the Crane School of Music.

Jane Subramanian and Virginia Cayey will speak about their book “State University of New York at Potsdam” during lunch, which will be noon, Thursday, Feb. 21. Bring a lunch, with a beverage and dessert provided by the association.

Jane Subramanian, a graduate of SUNY Potsdam, served as a librarian at the college for many years, including as the college archivist from 1997-2011.

Virginia Cayey, also a SUNY Potsdam graduate, served as a public school music teacher from 1960-1993.

The two authors will share the history of their alma mater through photographs from the SUNY Potsdam College Archives and Special Collections.
