OGDENSBURG -- There will be a War of 1812 symposium on April 26 starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Freight House in Ogdensburg.
Seven speakers from around the U.S. and Canada will discuss events and personalities, from the war in St. Lawrence County to the burning of Washington.
Eight exhibits will show archaeological discoveries, museum collections, re-enactments, navy life and period quilting.
Richard Feltoe from Brampton, Ont. will discuss the Upper Canada Militia in peace and war between 1806 and 1816. He has authored seven books on the war of 1812.
Local authors will present their fiction and non-fiction books and two documentaries will be available for viewing.
Cost is $30 for students, $50 for educators and New York state town historians and $60 for all others. The fee includes a continental breakfast and buffet lunch. Go to www.fort1749.org or call 384-1749 for more information.
