CANTON — St. Lawrence University will host Michael Muhammad Knight as the guest speaker for the 2018 Kathryn Fraser Mackay Memorial Lecture, which will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, in the Sykes Common Room, on Park Street.
The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will follow.
Knight is the author of 11 books, including “Why I am a Five Percenter" and “Why I am a Salafi.”
His work has been translated into several languages and even adapted into film.
His 12th book, “Muhammad: Forty Introductions,” is forthcoming in later 2018.
He will present his lecture, titled “Is Allah a Muslim? Five Percenters, Islam, and Blackness.”
Knight’s work is a detailed account of the movement inextricably linked with black empowerment, Islam, New York, and hip-hop.
