MASSENA -- Massena Memorial Hospital and attorney Efstathia G. Kyriakopoulos of Snider and Snider Law Firm, to offer a New York State Bar Association 2016 Mitchell Rabbino National Healthcare Decision Making Day program.
On April 21, Kyriakopoulos will present a free community seminar on powers of attorney and health care proxies.
People can learn about the differences between health care proxy and powers of attorney, different kinds of powers of attorney, what must be done to complete the forms and things to consider during the process.
The info session and lunch will start at 11:30 a.m. in the wing board room on MMH’s main level.
“Health care proxy and an appropriate durable power of attorney are tools that can avoid costly and time-consuming court proceedings for a guardianship,” a statement from MMH says. “A major advantage of both the power of attorney and health care proxy is that they allow individuals to select whom they want to make financial and health care decisions for them if they become unable to make them on their own.”
