POTSDAM -- A forum with a North Country assemblywoman and women student leaders will be broadcast on WCKN, public access cable channel 30 at Clarkson University, at 7:30 p.m. Monday and again Tuesday, April 18 and 19.
New York State Assemblywoman Addie Jenne Russell recently spoke with eight women student leaders at Clarkson University to discuss the opportunities and challenges for young women considering governance, politics and public service as a career path.
The show is also available for viewing on-line any time on at http://www.vimeo.com/22257917.
Meeting with an impressive array of Clarkson students active in both student government and organizational governance for the Young Women’s Political Forum, 118th District Assemblywoman Russell discussed the mechanics of running for office, finding mentors, using skills, women’s leadership roles and opportunities, and what special experiences and concerns a young woman brings to the political process.
This program is part of the American Association of University Women-NYS Footsteps Project, designed to foster a climate where women can learn from their political history, find mentors, and encourage talented women to consider appointed or elected office.
