MASSENA -- Assemblywoman Addie Russell is expected to attend as the Town Council holds a special meeting Wednesday night to discuss Massena Memorial Hospital.
It will be at 4 p.m. in the Town Hall’s second floor boardroom.
At the end of the 2015-16 legislative session, Russell introduced a bill in the Assembly that would allow MMH to affiliate without privatizing, which the board tabled without endorsing or refuting it at their June meeting. The hospital is in the middle of transitioning from a town-owned institute to a private, non-profit corporation.
MMH has submitted a Certificate of Need with the state Department of Health and has sought affiliation proposals from 17 health systems.
Town Supervisor Joe Gray said he also wants to discuss doing “what we can to protect the employees, the hospital and the town’s interest as well.”
