CANTON – This fall, TAUNY is kicking off a new series of after-school children's programs on the first Thursday of each month, with the first workshop -- making shrunken apple heads for Halloween -- on Oct. 7 from 3:45 to 5:15 p.m. at The TAUNY Center, 53 Main St.
Children ages 7 and older are invited to carve apple heads, which can then be shrunken over a period of two to three weeks (or a few days in an oven) and result in scary or whimsical Halloween decorations. They will also be able to decorate pre-dried apples.
Hannah Harvester, the new staff folklorist in charge of programming at TAUNY, will lead the apple-carving workshop.
There will be a charge of $3 for the shrunken apple workshop, to cover materials; each child under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Call TAUNY at 386-4289 to reserve a spot for your child.
