POTSDAM -- — The Laurentian Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club’s first Outdoor/Indoor Series presentation of the year, on the town and village of Potsdam’s participation in the Climate Smart Communities program, is set for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21 in the Potsdam Civic Center Community Room.
The Town and Village of Potsdam are among the villages, towns, and counties that have pledged to become certified Climate Smart Communities in a program managed by NYS DEC.
Alex French, Sustainability Coordinator for Clarkson University, will discuss specific ways Potsdam and similar communities might fulfill the elements needed to achieve CSC certification; ways Clarkson will be involved; and ways the town and village might take.
The commitment involves 10 elements including goal setting, decreasing community energy use, and supporting a green innovation economy, all dependent on informing and inspiring the public.
The public is welcome. For questions about the series contact Danielle Jerry at 907-231-1332 or dgjerry434@gmail.com.
