POTSDAM -- Clarkson University is hosting a variety of academic camps this summer for children and teens, including robotics, MythOlympics and more.

High school students interested in The Clarkson School or boosting their resumes before college might consider the Young Scholars Program from July 10 to 17. This residential camp is an academically stimulating program where teams are given a real-world problem to solve and then the opportunity to present their solutions to a group of Clarkson and community panelists.

• Students can explore the world of robotics with faculty and students from Clarkson’s Northern New York Robotics Academy July 11 to 15 through a FIRST LEGO League challenge game that will be announced at the beginning of camp. This commuter-only day camp is open to students entering grades four through 12.

• A Robotics Residential Camp is offered from July 17 to 23 for students entering grades nine through 12. Participants will get the full overnight camp experience at this fast-paced, secret challenge-based camp that will introduce them to skills needed to design, build and program a working Robotics Academy Challenge robot.

• The MythOlympics Training Camp is a competitive, scholarship-based program from July 10 to 13 packed with team-based activities, demonstrations and myth-busting challenges similar to the MythBusters television show. Up to 20 rising freshmen, sophomores and juniors from the North Country will be selected as “MythOlympians in Training” and receive a scholarship to cover the full costs of the residential camp.

• Horizons I and II are designed for seventh and eighth grade female students interested in science, technology, engineering or math. The program is full of hands-on projects and team building exercises. Students must be nominated by someone from their school in order to participate. Week one of the residential camp will be held from July 24 to 29, and week two will be held from July 31 to Aug. 5.

• Horizons III builds on the first two programs and is designed for female students who have already participated in Horizons I and II. Week one of the residential camp will be held July 23 to 29, and week two from July 30 to Aug. 5.
