'Doing More with Less' program
Students at Potsdam Building Blocks Day Care are moving into their second year of 'Doing More with Less.' The curriculum is the result of the daycare's involvement in the regional 'Eat Well Play Hard' program sponsored by the NYS Department of Health. The center implemented a Physical Activity and Nutrition Policy and a nutrition education curriculum which focuses on nutrition and wellness last year. Children at the center receive weekly nutrition teaching activities and at least 60 minutes of large motor activity daily. The children are also eating more fresh fruits and vegetables and getting less fat in their daily meals. The center was recently awarded their second grant from Eat Well Play Hard Program The funds received this year will be used to implement a 'Get Up & Dance' curriculum at the Building Adventures Summer Program for school age children. Seen here, the three-year olds dance with their teachers.
