POTSDAM -- Zoom Tan, 201 Market St., opened recently offering stand-up tanning booths and spray tanning.
The Potsdam location is the second in St. Lawrence County. A Massena location opened at 162 Harte Haven Plaza this past January. No appointments are necessary.
Zoom Tan offers only stand-up tanning booths. According to their website, Zoom Tan's primary reason for exclusively using standup tanning booths is because they are cleaner and provide a better tan than tanning beds.
Even though tanning beds are sanitized after each session, Zoom Tan officials say there are serious flaws with tanning bed cleanliness at other salons. Many beds get cleaned partially, poorly or hurriedly, Zoom Tan says.
The chain has nearly 70 stores in the state with plans to open around 20 more.
They are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. To contact the salon, call 1-877-966-6826.
A Zoom Tan employee referred North Country This Week to their corporate headquarters for comment. A phone call was not returned.
