CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce will host a group of travel writers from the U.S. and Canada this weekend.

Four freelance travel journalists and bloggers will tour St. Lawrence County attractions on Saturday and Sunday, as part of a three-day visit to the 1000 Islands/Seaway region that begins in Oswego County, continues into Jefferson County and concludes in St. Lawrence County.

The writers are affiliated with a range of publications and websites, including Maclean’s magazine, The Toronto Globe and Mail, Toronto Star Travel, Great Lakes Boating Magazine, In Flight USA, BizTravelers Choice, and FamTripper.com.

The trip has been organized by the public relations firm of M. Silver Associates, brought on in 2011 by Empire State Development and the I Love NY program to promote New York State to tourists.

In St. Lawrence County, the group is expected to visit Singer Castle, the Remington Museum, Seaway Festival and Founders’ Weekend events, Robert Moses State Park, Eisenhower Lock, and the New York Power Authority’s Hawkins Point Visitors Center.
