St. Lawrence County’s unemployment rate dropped by 1 percent last month from April 2015, according to the Department of Labor.
They say the jobless rate was 6.2 percent last month, down from 7.2 percent in April 2015.
There were 3,000 people on the dole last month and 3,500 the same month last year, the DOL said.
There were 44,600 people with jobs in April and 44,400 in April 2015, DOL said.
To our east in Franklin County, the rate fell by 1.2 percent.
The DOL says they had 6 percent unemployment last month and 7.2 percent unemployment in April 2015.
The number of people receiving benefits dropped to 1.2 percent in April from 1.5 percent in April 2016.
There were 19,100 people working last month and 18,900 people working the same month a year ago.
To our west in Jefferson County, the rate fell by .8 percent to 6.5 percent last month from 7.3 percent in April 2015.
There were 3,000 people on unemployment last month and 3,300 people in April 2015.
They had 43,300 people working in April and 42,300 in April 2015, according to the DOL.
