CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency’s Canton Business Park is to get $470,000 in state funds through an award from the second round of the Consolidated Funding Application regional competition.
The county IDA will use the money to pay for part of the development of a 22-acre commercial business park in Canton, including building and site work, and access road and water-sewer infrastructure, according to an announcement from Empire State Development.
That money is part of $3.4 million in funding for nine projects approved by the ESD board of directors in New York Friday.
The St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency owns and operates small industrial parks in Massena and Canton, and sought ESD assistance to help finance the 22-acre development.
The new building and related infrastructure will provide a facility for entrepreneurs to locate businesses and expand employment while increasing economic activity and job creation in St. Lawrence County, according to the ESD announcement Friday afternoon.
