St. Lawrence County has gained non-farm jobs over the year from November 2013 to November 2014 by about .5 percent of the total.
That amounts to 200 more jobs, from 42,100 in November 2013 to 42,300 last month.
That, according to the latest figures from the state Department of Labor, is better than in Jefferson County to our west, where job growth was flat, and Franklin County to our east, which lost one percent of its non-farm jobs over the last year.
DOL figures indicate Jefferson County’s total of non-farm jobs was at 42,300 last month, the same as a year ago.
Franklin County lost 200 jobs over the period, from 19,600 November last year to 19,400 in November 2014.
Statewide, the unemployment rate stood at 5.9 percent last month, down from 6.0 percent in October and substantially down from the 7.1 percent rate reported by the DOL for November 2013.
County-by-county unemployment rates for November are expected to be reported next week.
