Although St. Lawrence County gained 200 non-farm jobs in September compared to the same month last year, its growth rate is behind the state average, according to a preliminary report from the state Department of Labor.
In September, there were 43,000 non-farm jobs in St. Lawrence County, compared to 42,800 a year ago, the DOL said.
That translates to a .5 percent raise, below the state average of 1.5 percent.
To our east in Franklin County, non-farm jobs fell .5 percent to 19,100 from 19,200 in September 2014, according to the report.
To our west in Jefferson County, non-farm jobs took a 1.2 percent dive. The DOL said they had 42,700 non-farm jobs last month compared to 43,200 in September 2014.
