St. Lawrence County businesses can meet on Wednesday in Canton with expert on getting government contracts

CANTON -- St. Lawrence County businesses interested in learning about government contracting opportunities can meet with an expert Wednesday, July 30.

The SUNY Canton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is partnering with the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce to bring Nick Burkhard, a representative of the North Country Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), to the chamber office, 101 Main St., for free appointments from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Federal and state agencies spend billions of dollars every year on all types of goods and services. Even if you’re not sure there is an opportunity for your business, it might be worthwhile to explore the possibilities, according to SUNY Canton SBDC Director Dale Rice.

“We encourage any business that is even considering selling to the federal or state government to take advantage of PTAC’s services on July 30,” Rice said.

Local businesses can get help in determining their readiness to sell to the government, assistance with registration, and help in identifying potential bid opportunities. PTAC can also provide guidance in researching and bidding on contracts, women- and minority-owned certifications, bid-matching services and pre- and post-contracting issues.

Businesses interested in scheduling an appointment with the PTAC counselor can call the SUNY Canton SBDC at 386-7312 or email sbdc@canton.edu.

For more information on PTAC’s services call 788-4400 or email ptac@northcountryptac.com.
