CANTON -- St. Lawrence University has been named Best Campus in New York by Niche.com, thanks in large part to students who completed its survey.

SLU is also ranked 12th-best nationwide.

SUNY Potsdam is ranked 26th in the state; Clarkson came in at 49th.

The best campus survey ranks 943 colleges based on opinions from 100,000 students, among other things. The student responses account for 50 percent of the rating. It also uses data from various government and public data sets, Niche's own proprietary data, and campus quality surveys from 102,060 current students and recent alumni.

A high ranking indicates that students are very happy with the quality of campus resources and facilities and love their campus community.

St. Lawrence received grades of ‘A' for its food, housing and technology. A total of 133 SLU students competed Niche’s survey – a relatively high number of participants – giving the university a score of 4.4 out of 5.
