POTSDAM -- Rosie's Hawg Dogs has closed for the season.

"Now that winter is approaching, it is time to close down the hot dog cart for the season," John Rose, who operated the stand for the first season in 2012, said in a letter to the editor.

"Our first season was amazing! We were welcomed with open arms by the community, and it sure helped us through the “jitters” of getting a new venture started."

John Rose retired as a custodial supervisor for the county after 35 and a half years and decided he wanted to run a hot dog stand. He said the stand enjoyed a successful summer and fall.

He and his wife Lynn call it Rosie's Hawg Dogs, set up on Maple Street in Potsdam on Mondays and Fridays and at the farmers' market off of Main Street on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Rose said he plans to open again when the weather turns warm.
