OGDENSBURG -- A local businesswoman is hoping to revive Ogdensburg’s main drag with a new consignment shop.

Susan Duffy has opened the Really Old & Nearly New Boutique at 809A Ford Street.

The store features a variety of name brand clothes and high quality items that are sold on consignment. Duffy said the store also provides local artists with a venue for marketing their products.

“We have fleece blankets and homemade hats, a lot of winter wear right now,” she said.

Duffy said she purchased the location two years ago and renovated two upstairs apartments and has refurbished the ground level to house businesses.

“The goal is that we can start waking up Ford Street again. I grew up in this neighborhood and there used to be a lot going on,” she said. “I want to increase foot traffic and revive the area.”

Duffy said the reception has been great so far. She said she has received a lot of praise from the community.

Duffy said the store has already been busy, despite its quiet opening. She said she has nearly 2,000 items entered and priced for sale.

Duffy said the she is also seeing some traffic from Canadian shoppers who are interested in her products as well.

“I’ve gotten over 10,000 page views on our Facebook already,” she said.

For now Duffy is running the business with her daughter, but said she will add employees if needed.

Duffy said she is also planning on getting a business in next-door where she owns a second storefront. She said she has plans for the space, but is also interested in ideas from entrepreneurs who might be interested in the space.

Really Old & Nearly New Boutique is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday from 11 to 4 p.m.

“Come in and shop,” she said.

Susan Duffy owns and operates Off the Hook Bed and Breakfast at her home in Lisbon. She also serves on the town council there.
