POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Food Co-op will celebrate 44 years in the North Country with its annual open house Saturday, Sept. 16, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The event will be held rain or shine under the big tents, with food, music, and activities planned.

This event is open to everyone.

It is an opportunity for those who are interested in learning more about the Co-op (membership is not required to make purchases) to see the store and what it has to offer. It is also a time for Co-op member-owners to gather socially.

Everyone who shops in the store on the day of the open house will receive a 10 percent discount on their purchases.

There will be food to sample from the Co-op’s own Carriage House Bakery and Deli in addition to samples from Co-op vendors: Squeak Creek Apiaries; Canton Apples, featuring Fresh Cider & Juice; and Guayaki Organic Yerba Mate.

There will be art activities for children including tye-dying from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Music will be provided throughout the day by local musicians, Mark Lyon, Nicholfalls, and Oscar Sarmiento and friends.

This year the co-op will also hold a one-day membership frive during open house.

New and renewing member-owners will receive a free 2.8-ounce bar of organic fair-trade chocolate, as well as entry into a drawing for this year’s new, and soon-to-be-released, Co-op t-shirt.

Current member-owners who refer a friend who become a member will also be entered into the t-shirt drawing.
