OGDENSBURG – Murnane Building Contractors, Plattsburgh submitted the lowest bid for the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority’s airport terminal expansion.
The OBPA opened the bids Monday at a special meeting.
Murnane bid the project at 2,834,200, about $100,000 less than the next lowest bidder, Con Tech Building Systems, Gouverner, which submitted a bid of $2,994,000.
The highest bid came from Northland Associates Inc, Liverpool, with a bid of $3,195,717.
The proposed 3,600 square-foot terminal expansion, is part of the larger airport expansion and is necessary in order to accommodate the larger volume of passengers expected as the OBPA lengthens the runway to accommodate larger planes.
Among the improvements to the terminal will be a new baggage handling system, and improvements to the ticketing and departure lounge area at the terminal.
The OBPA also opened bids for plumbing, heating, and electrical work. Norwood Plumbing submitted the low bid with a price tag of $126,700 to install plumbing at the terminal.
Hyde-Stone Mechanical, Potsdam, submitted the low bid of $238,000 for heating and air-conditioning work.
Dow Electrical, Malone, submitted the low bid for electrical installation with a quote of $41,069.
OBPA Executive Director Wade Davis said the project engineer will now evaluate the bids to ensure everything is in order. He said the board would then award the contract based on the engineer's recommendation.
Davis said the total terminal project came in at $3.64 million, which was in line with expectations.
"The expanded Ogdensburg International Airport terminal is a key component to the overall airport expansion project." said Wade A Davis, Executive Director of the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority, "The terminal project is a value-oriented retrofit and expansion which maximizes passenger throughput while minimizing costs to all parties involved."
