OGDENSBURG -- The Frederic Remington Art Museum is offering a discount on several prints that Remington created for Collier's Magazine in the early 20th century. The sale will run though October.

The antique prints came about through a 1903 contract between Remington and Collier's Magazine. Under this agreement, Remington would create and retain original oil paintings and sell the reproduction rights to Collier's. For the first time, the artist was paid to select his own Western subjects rather than simply illustrate the work of others, according to the museum.

Remington destroyed over 100 of his paintings, and these rare Collier's prints remain the only existing testimony of many of those lost originals, the museum said.

Museum members get a 20 percent discount and non-members get 10 percent off any of the Collier’s prints. They can be ordered online or call 393-2425. Members enter or mention code OCTMEM and non-members enter or mention code OCTNON.

Pricing and availability are subject to change as supplies diminish.
