OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg International Airport welcomed its 30,000th air passenger so far this year, the earliest officials say they airport has reached that figure.

“This was great! This really makes the trip. So many people from work are starting to travel out of OGS. Several of my colleagues flew to Florida from here a couple of weeks ago and another one just booked her tickets for November. What a wonderful experience!” Roussel was quoted as saying in a press release from OBPA.

“Before 2016, we had less than 10,000 a year,” Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority Executive Wade Davis said in a prepared statement. “Now we’re halfway through the year and we’ve already got 30,000.”

That number includes people getting on or getting off an Allegiant Air or a Cape Air plane at the Ogdensburg airport. Those are the two commercial air carriers offering regularly scheduled flights to and from there.

Lina Roussel of Valleyfield, Quebec, earned the honor of being the 30,000th passenger as she prepared to fly to Orlando, Florida with her son, Olivier Leone, and accompanied by her friend from work Carole Fortin and her son William Leger.

Roussel and her party won the cost of their flights and free valet parking as a thank you for flying through OGS, Davis said.

“We can't thank those passengers enough who have decided that flying out of OGS is cost effective, a time-saving and customer friendly experience,” OBPA Chairman Samuel J. LaMacchia. said in a prepared statement. “Our future is built on these principles.”

“We are extremely grateful for the thousands upon thousands of new U.S. and Canadian passengers now utilizing Ogdensburg International Airport as this directly benefits the region,” Davis said in the news release.
