A preliminary jobs report for February from the New York State Department of Labor indicates that the number of non-farm jobs in St. Lawrence County was the same in February 2016 as it was in February 2015, at 41,800.
To our east in Franklin County, the number was also unchanged from February last year compared with February this year, at 18,900 non-farm jobs.
In the Watertown-Ft. Drum Metro Area, comprising Jefferson and Lewis counties, the count went up, from 40,500 in February 2015 to 41,600 in February 2016, up 2.7 percent.
In the state as a whole, there were 130,500 more non-farm jobs in February this year that in February last year, up 1.4 percent., according to DOL figures.
The monthly report from the DOL on unemployment figures is due next week.
