OGENSBURG – Hosmer’s Marina, a new boating stop along the St. Lawrence River at Ogdensburg, opens Thursday, and a new convenience store, bait shop, and restaurant are not far behind.
Owner William D. Hosmer says it will be the first time in many years that boaters will be able to get fuel at Ogdensburg.
“I believe that the opening of the new marina will put our community back on the map for boaters and tourists on both sides of the border looking for places to visit this summer,” Hosmer said.
And he believes that the construction project has been a spark for other investments in waterfront businesses along Ogdensburg’s shoreline.
Hosmer’s will start selling fuel Thursday.
“In the next two weeks, I’ll be installing my docks and I’ll be providing free boat slips for visiting boaters who want to visit Ogdensburg,” he said.
“Later this month, I will be opening a bait, tackle and convenience store to provide anglers and boaters a convenient place to buy what they need for their day on the water.”
And by the end of the month, Hosmer says, he hopes to open Smugglers, a new restaurant and tavern.
