Fidelis Care, which bills itself as "The New York State Catholic Health Plan," has received approval from the State Comptroller's Office to operate in St. Lawrence County.

"On behalf of the Diocese of Ogdensburg, I am pleased to welcome Fidelis Care to St. Lawrence County," said Terry R. LaValley, Bishop of Ogdensburg.

Fidelis has more than 675,000 customers in New York. The company has been approved for the Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus and Medicaid managed care programs.

Fidelis Care says it is founded on the belief that all New Yorkers should have access to affordable, quality health insurance. Fidelis Care also offers disease management programs to help treat and control chronic conditions such as asthma and diabetes and innovative programs to help new mothers and their babies get off to a healthy start in life.
