POTSDAM -- The village’s Planning and Development Office will hold a project information meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8 in the Civic Center Board Room to inform people of the $215,000 New York Main Street grant recently secured by the village.
The New York Main Street Program grant can provide owners of buildings in a targeted area of downtown with grant financing for rehabilitation of mixed-use and commercial buildings.
The maximum amount that a property owner may receive is 75 percent of eligible renovation costs or $50,000. whichever is less. Property owners must provide the balance of renovation funds as an owner's match.
A wide range of interior and exterior repair and renovation work are eligible. Residential rehabilitation is not eligible for assistance through this project.
At the meeting, village Director of Planning and Development Fed Hanss will provide potential applicants with information on how to apply and financing, including the owner's match requirement, eligible renovation costs, securing competitive bids and other pertinent information.
Downtown property owners who may have an interest in securing state grant assistance for building renovations are strongly encouraged to attend. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Hans will make application forms for assistance available. The village will accept applications on a first-come, first-served basis until all funds have been committed.
