The business now operates out of a new garage at 5 County Rte. 40.

MASSENA -- LaPlante Tire has moved and will soon offer additional services under their new roof at 5 County Rte. 40, near the intersection with state Route 56 across from the Free Trader office.

"It's a bigger spot. [The old location] was my house, it was a one-bay garage. Here we have a four-bay garage," Owner Denes (pronounced "Dennis") LaPlante said. "We should've done this seven, eight years ago."

In addition to tire service for cars, trucks and trailers, the business will service brakes in January.

"It will be everything – calipers, rotors, entire brake jobs," LaPlante said.

One of his long-term goals is to add medium truck tires and possibly vehicle inspections.

"We have huge doors in the front and we may do medium truck tires in the future ... maybe do inspections, too," he said.

LaPlante says although the business has moved, their prices will stay the same and will always be tax-free to Native Americans.

"It will be the same low prices ... that's what we'll continue to do," LaPlante said. "If the state tells me Native Americans don't have to pay sales tax, why would I make them pay?"
