Massena tattoo parlor moves to Main Street

MASSENA -- Mojo Rising Tattoo has changed locations, but retained its unique feel at its new 63 Main Street home.

Morgan St. Louis has been running the shop of the Sunrise Mall since 2010, but recently moved after costs at the old building were driven up when the Massena Chamber of Commerce relocated.

"We were holding out on that spot, but this place is better. I have more space and it's a nicer location," she said.

St. Louis runs the shop alone, but is currently training an apprentice, who will eventually be doing her own work. She said the new shop provides a better atmosphere, one she believes reflects her style.

"We aren't your typical tattoo shop with skulls all over the wall. We have customers here that range from 18- to 73-years-old and want everyone to feel comfortable,” she said.

While the move was positive in most respects, St. Louis said the old shop has a wall signed by many of her customers that she had to leave behind.

"I wish I could have cut that out and taken it with me," she said. "I will really miss that, but we are going to get a new one going here," she said.

She said the new location should be easy for new and old customers to find.

"We are on the same block as before. I can see the old shop from my window."

St. Louis said the shop is open Tuesday through Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. St. Louis said she specializes in custom work and walk-ins are welcome.

St. Louis said she is planning a joint grand opening with her new neighbor at Forevermore Studio sometime in February.
