The First Niagara Bank branches in Potsdam and Massena will close following the purchase of First Niagara by Key Bank.
Key Bank currently operates numerous branches in St. Lawrence County, including Potsdam, Canton, Winthrop, Massena, Ogdensburg and Gouverneur.
Throughout First Niagara territory, more than 103 First Niagara or Key Bank branches will be closed.
The branch consolidations will start this year and continue through early 2017, according to a press notice released through PR Newswire. This includes 70 branches that are scheduled to be consolidated in October. KeyBank is notifying customers of these branches about the consolidations, according to the release.
KeyBank confirmed that all First Niagara and KeyBank branch employees have been offered roles with KeyBank.
In 2011, First Niagara, based in Buffalo, bought 195 branches from U.K.-based HSBC, including those in Potsdam and Massena.
