MASSENA -- The village board on Tuesday voted to approve a 10-year Time Warner Cable franchise agreement. However, the company did not send a representative to answer questions after the Board of Trustees had requested one to be present.
"I guess we have very little option with this anyways. We asked to have a representative here and no one showed up. It just goes to show you. Of all the people that talked to me, that's the number one concern - the price of cable and there's no one here to voice that to," Trustee Francis Carvel said.
The board passed the franchise agreement 3-1 with Carvel casting the dissenting vote.
"Fortunately these agreements don't prohibit competition," Deputy Mayor Matt Lebire said, who voted for the agreement, along with trustees Albert Deshaies and Timothy Ahlfeld.
"We have ensured they are paying us as appropriate," Mayor Tim Currier said. "This is just for the infrastructure."
