MASSENA -- The Massena Memorial Hospital Foundation Radiothon received a boost from Seacomm Federal Credit Union and Stewart’s.

The two companies pledged $1,000 toward the foundation’s effort to raise funds for new cardiac telemetry equipment.

The Radiothon is an all day auction and pledge event hosted by the MMH Foundation and co-sponsored by 1340 WMSA and the Massena Rotary Club. It will be on Friday, May 13 in the Massena Memorial Hospital board room.

“SeaComm is the first corporate pledge of the 27th Annual Radiothon. This year’s Radiothon proceeds will be used to expand cardiac telemetry at Massena Memorial from 14 beds to 22 beds. At an estimated cost of $9,100 per bed, the SeaComm donation is a tremendous way to kick off our event,” said Julianne Fowler, MMH Foundation event coordinator. “This is a project that will make an impact on our patients requiring constant cardiac monitoring. This means more of our patients can stay close to home for care versus traveling to another hospital,” she continued.

“We are extremely pleased to provide Massena Memorial Hospital Foundation with our financial support,” said SeaComm President & CEO Scott Wilson. “The hospital is a cornerstone of the greater Massena community and continues to meet the healthcare needs of our friends and neighbors, which is extremely important to us," he added.

Over $21,000 worth of items have been donated by businessess and people from Massena, Akwesasne, Canton, Potsdam, Brasher Falls, Waddington, Lake Placid, Syracuse and many other communities.

The MMH Foundation Radiothon can be heard live on 1340 WMSA and Time Warner Cable channel 30. Auction items can be viewed at www.mmhfoundation.net. Early bids will be accepted until 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 12. Online pledges can be made anytime through the foundation website.
