OGDENSBURG -- After a 45-year career with Community Bank, Ogdensburg resident Tim Baker has retired.

Baker has worked at the bank since October 1971, when he started as a manager trainee.

When Baker began his career with the bank, its asset size was approximately $47 million, and there were only nine branches. Today, Community Bank operates more than 190 customer facilities across Upstate New York and Northeastern Pennsylvania with assets of approximately $8.5 billion.

Over the ensuing 40 years, Baker held numerous positions across the bank, including assistant cashier, supervisor of the credit department, credit analysis and loan operations functions, chief financial officer of St. Lawrence National Bank and senior vice president of operations and technology.

Since 2004, Baker has worked as senior vice president and director of special projects. He has been a member of Community Bank’s Senior Management Committee since 1995 and is the bank’s historian.

“Tim’s contributions to the company and his impact on our success have been immeasurable,” said Mark Tryniski, Community Bank CEO. “If Community Bank had a Hall of Fame Tim would be in it. We wish him much continued success as he celebrates his well-earned retirement.”

Baker has been active in community activities in his hometown of Ogdensburg as coach for youth sports of hockey, football and baseball and an officer and director in adult basketball and softball leagues. He is a member, Past Grand Knight, Past President, and Past State Chairman of the Knights of Columbus. He is also the former Jr. Governor of Ogdensburg Moose Lodge 814 in Ogdensburg.

Baker is the son of Mr. Warren (deceased) and Anna Belle Baker of Ogdensburg and is married to the former Shannon E. Kelly. The Bakers reside in their retirement home on the St. Lawrence River in Ogdensburg.
