MASSENA -- Liberty Tax Service has opened a new office in Massena.

The new Liberty Tax office is located at 43 Stephenville Road, inside Wal-Mart next to Customer Service, and is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays during tax season.

A Grand Opening Celebration will be held Jan. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the new office. Tax professionals will provide free tax advice, and Lady Liberty will serve refreshments, popcorn, snacks and have prizes for the children including crowns, Mardi-Gras beads and more.

Customers are encouraged to bring old cell phones to be donated to Cell-Phones for Soldiers, as Liberty Tax is a national sponsor of this valued program.

Additionally, on Jan. 24 at 11 a.m., there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony with representatives from the Massena Chamber of Commerce, including director Michael Gleason. Other dignitaries from the Village of Massena are expected to be in attendance.

The office is owned and operated by Jeff Pier, alum of both St. Lawrence and Clarkson universities and a long-time St Lawrence County resident.

Pier has over 30 years’ experience with income tax preparation and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a Registered Tax Return Preparer.

The new Liberty Tax Service office will employ 6-8 tax preparers, marketers, and office staff for the tax season.
