MASSENA -- Kaneb Orchards of Massena was awarded "Best in Class" last night for their St. Lawrence Cider at the New York Wine and Grape Foundation Governors Cup Competition.
The award was presented by New York Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul at the NY Wine and Culinary Center in Canandaigua.
It is the second year in a row that the local cidery has won this award.
They have also recently won awards in Indianapolis and Michigan.
Kaneb Orchards has been making hard cider for two years. The local orchard has been producing fresh apple cider for over six years at their facility just off State Rt. 37 near the Highland Home.
Visitors 21 and over can sample the award winning cider at the orchard when this season opens Friday, Aug. 21 and continues through Sunday, Nov. 1, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
