POTSDAM –The Hookah House at 16 Market St. is gone, but another business there is not far behind.
Owner Jessika Furnace’s plan is for a clothing and gift store to cater to customers not now well served, Furnace said. The store, when it opens later this year, will have plus sizes, she said.
Furnace says that when the store does open, she will build inventory slowly.
Furnace co-owns Happy Daze at 6 Market St. and Little Italy at 30 Market St. The Hookah House opened two years ago, trying to capitalize on what was a growing trend in some places of lounges with hookahs, or water pipes, for smoking fruit preparations called shisha.
Furnace will now remodel the 1,800 square feet in the storefront.
She said she has no name yet for the new place, nor a firm opening date.
