HEUVELTON -- With a new look and atmosphere, Gilbert Greens County Club Restaurant and Lounge, 350 Taylor Rd., aims to become a family-style dining and golfing experience.

The eatery added new hardwood floors and completely renovated their bar which restaurant manager Brandon Buchta says were outdated and needed a fresh look.

“I don't want to give too much away about what we’ve done,” Buchta said. “I want people to see the improvements for themselves.”

The additions of a pool table, dartboards and a jukebox to the dining area are expected to be a hit with young and old.

A draft beer system has been installed providing six different beers on tap for adults.

The golf course and eatery had previously been run separately but are now under the ownership Buchta’s grandfather Edward Gilbert.

“My family purchased the golf course a few years back and now that it’s under one ownership we want it to be inviting and to make it our own,” he said.

Part of making the restaurant their own was to make changes to their food offerings.

“The menu will be bi-seasonal to take advantage of fresh ingredients…with staples such as seafood and burgers being available. Right now we have a grilled hand-cut 16-ounce porterhouse steak,” Buchta said.

Customers can even build their own burger with the possibility of it being added to the menu permanently.

“We will add some of the creations to the menu and if they sell well enough over a period of time we will add them to our everyday menu,” he said.

Buchta said there are plans for outdoor renovations to continue the restaurants overhaul once the weather improves.

“We definitely need a fresh coat of paint…we also plan to do some landscaping and cleaning up the grounds to improve the appearance,” he said.

The eatery plans to host trivia nights on Tuesdays with prizes for first and second place. There are plans to add a driving range to land that was recently cleared near the golf course as well as a Quick Draw machine for the restaurant, according to Buchta.

“We hope to appeal to more than just golfers; we encourage families who may not have been here before to stop in and see the changes we’ve made,” Buchta said.
