HEUVELTON -- Heuvelton Historical Association is one step closer to completing the Pickens Hall renovations thanks to $10,000 donation.

Community Bank, N.A. has donated $10,000 to the Heuvelton Historical Association for the renovation project. The project is in its final phase and should be completed by late spring 2015.

Heuvelton Historical Association has been in the process of restoring Pickens Hall at 83 State St. since 2001.

Pickens Hall opened its doors in 1858. It was built by John Pickens Sr., one of the region’s early entrepreneurs.

The massive three-story structure was the center of civic, commercial, musical and theatrical performances of the time.

Pickens Hall has received many grants and donations from the community.

HHA is now getting ready to finish the third floor. The third floor was referred to as the Heuvelton Opera House and hosted many performances from traveling theater groups.
