POTSDAM – Harbor Freight Tools plans to open a new outlet in the former Giant Tiger space at the plaza with the Big Lots, Save-A-Lot and Kinney Drugs stores on outer Market Street.
After a preliminary review, the village Planning Board recently approved two site plans, one from Harbor Freight for configuring alterations in the roughly 21,460 square feet and one for plaza owner Gibraltar Management Co. to add some blacktop to the driveway at the north side of the store, according to board chairman Jim Corbett.
The existing dividing wall between Big Lots and the new Harbor Freight will move into the former Giant Tiger space by about 30 feet, according to Code Enforcement Officer Lisa Newby. That is to accommodate a small expansion for Big Lots, which has been using the empty space next door for storage.
On its web site, Harbor Freight, a 40-year-old company based in Calabasas, California, says its more than 800 stores carry 7,000 tools at low prices.
